Terms of Use

Last updated: 28 August 2026 · Version 1.0

These Terms govern your use of the Carddis app (the “App”), operated by an individual developer (“we”, “us”). By installing or using the App you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.

1. What Carddis is — and is not

Carddis is a place to keep the loyalty cards you already have. It is not a payment wallet, it is not affiliated with any shop or loyalty programme, and it does not hold points, balances or money. It stores a card number you supply and draws it back as a scannable code. Whether a shop accepts a code from a screen, and what your card is worth, are matters between you and that shop.

Do not store bank card, credit card or payment card details in Carddis. It is not designed or secured for them, and the App does not lock itself behind a passcode or biometrics: anyone holding your unlocked device can read what is in it.

2. Scanning and codes

Codes are read on your device and redrawn from the number and symbology stored with the card. Recognition can be wrong — a worn or badly printed card, poor light, an unusual symbology — and a redrawn code will only scan if its symbology matches the one the shop's system expects. Check the number against the card itself before you rely on it, and keep the physical card until you have used the App's copy successfully at least once. We are not responsible for a code a till refuses.

3. Brand names and logos

Logos and brand names shown for your cards belong to their owners and are looked up from a public brand catalogue. They are displayed to help you recognise your own cards. Their presence implies no affiliation with, sponsorship by or endorsement from those owners, and Carddis is not connected to any loyalty programme it can display.

4. Your data and your device

Everything you enter is stored on your device, and only there. There is no account, no backup on our side and no sync. If you lose, reset or replace your device, or delete the App, your cards are gone and we cannot recover them. Whether they are included in a device backup is a matter for your device and your operating system, not for us.

5. Acceptable use

Store only cards you are entitled to use. Do not use the App to copy, share or use someone else's loyalty card without their permission, or to do anything unlawful. Do not attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile or interfere with the App except to the extent the law expressly allows, and do not abuse the third-party services it calls out to.

6. Subscriptions and payment

Carddis is free to use, including adding as many cards as you like. Opening a card's code at the till is free for ten openings in a calendar month; the counter resets on the first of each month and an opening that was refused is not counted against you. Carddis Pro removes the counter and is sold from inside the App as an in-app purchase.

Purchases are sold and billed by Apple or Google, not by us. Payment is charged to your App Store or Google Play account at confirmation of purchase. An auto-renewing subscription renews automatically unless auto-renewal is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period, and your account is charged for renewal within 24 hours before the end of that period. The price and the term of each option are shown in the App before you buy.

You can manage or cancel a subscription in your App Store or Google Play account settings at any time. Deleting the App does not cancel a subscription. Refunds are handled by Apple or Google under their own policies — we cannot issue them directly, but we will help you where we can.

Nothing is deleted if a subscription ends. Your cards stay exactly as they were, and the monthly counter simply applies again. Prices and the contents of the free and paid tiers may change; we will give notice in the App before a change affects an existing purchase.

7. Right of withdrawal (EEA and UK consumers)

If you are a consumer in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, you have the right to withdraw from a purchase of digital content within 14 days without giving a reason. Because purchases are processed by Apple or Google, please submit withdrawal and refund requests through their support channels; contact us at the address below if you need help doing so.

8. Availability and changes to the service

We work to keep the App reliable, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation, and the brand catalogue it looks logos up in may be slow, changed or withdrawn without notice. We may modify, suspend or discontinue features; if we discontinue the App, your cards stay on your device and the App keeps working as long as your operating system supports it.

9. Intellectual property

The App, its design and its code are ours and are licensed to you, not sold: you get a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use it on devices you control.

10. Ending these Terms

You may stop using the App at any time by deleting it, which deletes your cards with it. These Terms end when you do.

11. Liability

Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited or excluded. If you are a consumer, you keep all rights given to you by the mandatory consumer-protection law of the country where you live, and nothing here takes those away.

Subject only to the paragraph above: the App is provided “as is”; to the extent permitted by law we exclude implied warranties of merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose; we are not liable for loss that was not reasonably foreseeable, for loss of profits or business, for a code a till would not read, for points or a discount you did not receive, or for data lost with a device; and our total liability arising out of the App is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, or USD 100.

12. Governing law and where disputes are heard

These Terms are governed by the law of the developer's country of residence. If you are a consumer, this does not deprive you of the protection of the mandatory law of the country where you live, and you may bring proceedings in the courts of your own country. Nothing here requires you to arbitrate or to litigate abroad if your law gives you a different right.

13. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms. The date and version at the top reflect the latest revision. If a change materially affects your rights, we will notify you in the App before it takes effect, and continued use after that date means you accept the updated Terms.
